Challenge false humility

Mother’s Words is designed to reflect the vibrant colours and beautiful floral repetitions that are often expected of South-Asian textiles, but each flower is tainted with vulgar, humorous phrases. Quite often traditional scarves are made of light material which contours to the body. However, for this project Silk Twill was specifically selected for its heavy material qualities, which creates an awkwardness. This technicality and the battle the wearer has, reflects upon the burden of modesty.
